Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ National Guard members are eligible for the State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP) if they meet all of the following requirements:
- Must be a drilling member of the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ National Guard
- Must be domiciled in the state of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ
- Must be in good standing with the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ National Guard
- Must be seeking an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree
- Must maintain good academic standing with school
- Must pay all fees applied to bill (exemption covers tuition only)
Qualified Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs must present their state-issued ID to the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Cashier Center in the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Union (room 135) before the tuition deadline each semester.

Patriot Scholarship
The is a Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ law passed in 2023 that works in conjunction with the State Tuition Exemption Program (STEP) to help Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Army and Air National Guardsmen work towards an undergraduate degree and graduate debt-free. To qualify for the Patriot Scholarship, a Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ must be eligible for the LA STEP program. The scholarship pays the remaining mandatory fees as approved by the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Board of Regents.
