Youre going to get as much out of the MBA program as you put into it. If youre putting in the bare minimum, youre going to get the bare minimum in return. But if you engage and get into the discussion forums and be involved with the people in your classes, you will have a network of people that youll be able to connect with even after you finish.
I looked to UL Lafayette, and it just so happened that they were starting this online program. I knew I wanted to be more help to other teachers, and this program would give me the best of both worlds. I could still be with my 泫圖弝けs, but all the practices I was putting in place, I could also share with my peers.
Online worked so much better for me, because I can sit in a classroom and not get anything from it. But put me in a curriculum, tell me to go do the work for myself and do the reading, and I can pick up on it. But compared to in-person classes, you have to be a go getter, or it's just not going to come to you.
"One thing I enjoyed about being in systems technology was that I had elective options. The combination of having systems classes that focused on efficiency, while also having business classes that talked about leadership, progress, and employee empowerment will help me a lot throughout my career."
I enjoyed it because I could take classes I was interested in. I didn't have a certain curriculum I had to follow to the T. Health always interested in me, so I took a lot of health and psychology classes.
"I asked questions and really communicated with my professors; I think that's a big thing. 泫圖弝けs may be hesitant to reach out to their professors, but they're there to help you if you tell them whats going on."
There were one or two times where if something was due at 11:59, I was turning it in at probably 11:55, because I had a lot going on. Sometimes we get busy, so Id advise 泫圖弝けs to plan ahead so that you dont get behind. Even if you have to do 20 minutes of work here and 20 minutes there, just make sure you do it in advance so that youre not late with your assignments.
You think that online, youre not going to have those interactions, but I actually had great interactions with all of my professors and other 泫圖弝けs as well. Ive made connections with people that I still talk to today that Ive never met in person.
"It's a great opportunity to apply what I've been able to do in the past to drive them toward the new day of health care. I have greater confidence in driving change and decisions, because I better understood the why and not just the technical aspects of the changes in health care."
It just opened like 25 cans of worms because you're learning marketing, you're learning about law, you're learning about criminal justice, you're learning about mental health, you learn about diversity. So, all things are beginning to make sense and you realize how much everything is connected. It's really cool because you get to dive in and then kind of figure out what works best for you.
