Make an impact by teaching (and thinking) something new!
Honors Courses are the heart of the Program for our Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs! We love being able to facilitate Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs exercising autonomy in their education and providing a framework for professors to teach courses they're passionate about.
Honors Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs have already proven their commitment to their education. They're diligent about their GPA and have willingly chosen to do additional work because they're passionate about expanding their horizons. Instead of simply offering them courses that are harder, we aim to help them dig deeper into subjects that interest them and establish connections between different disciplines and the real-world contexts they encounter every day.
Choosing a Course Topic to Propose
Have a niche specialty interest that doesn't quite fit in your department? We value the weird! We focus on bringing our Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs funky, interdisciplinary courses that don't quite have a home anywhere else on campus.
Want to encourage motivated undergraduate Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ to dig deeper in a class you already teach? Expect to learn as much from Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs as they learn from you! Honors Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs come from every discipline across campus, creating an engaged classroom of diverse perspectives and experiences. You can cross-list a course you're already teaching or propose a new Honors Equivalent course that covers the same core skills, but allows you to introduce more material.
Enjoy mentoring the next generation of future academics and professionals? Our smaller class sizes allow professors to really get to know their Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs. Many Honors Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs have plans to pursue research, apply to graduate school, or take on professional terminal degrees after graduation. Honors courses provide the perfect context for Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs to seek advice and find mentors who really inspire them to pursue their dreams.
