UNIV 100 (First-Year Seminar)

UNIV 100 (First-Year Seminar) is a three-credit-hour, fifteen-week course designed to help Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs transition successfully from high school to UL Lafayette.

The course has two components:

  1. New Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Convocation, mandatory for all Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs enrolled in UNIV 100, is the official academic welcome for first-year Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs and marks their entrance into the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ at Lafayette.
  2. First-Year Seminar, the fifteen-week course.

About UNIV 100

Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs choose a First-Year Seminar topic or theme that interests them and enroll in that UNIV 100 section. The course is problem-based or project-based and engages Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs in meaningful inquiry and activities that develop core cognitive skills such as critical thinking, information literacy, and oral and written communication skills. Many UNIV 100 courses will culminate in a Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ-produced project – the best projects are then shown off in the UNIV 100 Showcase.

There is a $95 course fee associated with this class.

UNIV 100 courses for the Fall 2025 semester are organized by topic. A description is included with each course listing. It is recommended that you browse the course selections and make a note of those courses that interest you and fit your schedule.
