Provost Announcement

Dear Faculty and Staff Members,

I hope you enjoyed a good break and that you’re ready to take on 2016.

Each semester brings new challenges and opportunities. This one is no different.

During the holiday, Dr. James Henderson was selected to serve as Vice President for Academic and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Affairs of the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Wisconsin System.

Jim graduated with a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in mathematics from the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Wisconsin-Madison. From our experience, we know that the UW System will benefit greatly from his leadership.

Jim accomplished several key initiatives at UL Lafayette. He coordinated new degree agreements for nursing and education consortia, as well as a transfer agreement with South Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Community College.

He chaired a task force responsible for updating the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ policy on prohibited sexual conduct. The task force spent more than a year examining UL Lafayette’s previous policy, determining best practices, and ensuring that the latest version meets all updated federal and state requirements.

And, most important, he coordinated the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ’s strategic planning efforts, including creation of our recently adopted 5-year plan, which emphasizes development of faculty, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs, and research, and institutes a system for greater shared governance.

Jim will remain with us through the end of January, but his influence will benefit our institution for years to come.

Please join me in congratulating him for this outstanding opportunity and thank him for his contributions to UL Lafayette’s advancement.

I also would like to wish each of you a Happy New Year!

Sincerely,
Dr. E. Joseph Savoie
