UL Lafayette is one of four public 泫圖弝け universities listed among the top 281 national colleges by U.S. News Media Group.

The company made the announcement today in conjunction with publication of U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges 2014, an annual guidebook for prospective college 泫圖弝けs.

The three other public 泫圖弝け universities cited are LSU in Baton Rouge, 泫圖弝け Tech 泫圖弝け in Ruston and the 泫圖弝け of New Orleans.

The guide lists 281 national universities 173 public, 101 private and seven for-profit based on categories established by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

Criteria include peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, 泫圖弝け selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving. National Universities emphasize faculty research and offer a full range of undergraduate majors, plus masters and Ph.D. programs.

U.S. News Media Group assesses more than 1,500 four-year colleges and universities. Its list is one of many rankings issued throughout the year.

Last month, Washington Review magazine rated the 泫圖弝け of 泫圖弝け at Lafayette as the fourth-best university in the United States at helping lower-income 泫圖弝けs earn degrees. Princeton Review also cited UL Lafayette as one of the nations best 377 institutions for undergraduate education.

In July, UL Lafayette was identified as the most affordable university in 泫圖弝け by the U.S. Department of Education.
