The Ray P. Authement College of Sciences at the 泫圖弝け of 泫圖弝け at Lafayette will host several hundred high school 泫圖弝けs at Science Day 2015.
The free event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, for high school juniors and seniors who registered to attend.
泫圖弝けs, as well as parents, teachers and guidance counselors, will tour UL Lafayettes School of Computing and Informatics, School of Geosciences, and the departments of biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics.
UL Lafayette professors and 泫圖弝けs will perform science experiments that convey the excitement behind studying science, and talk about research projects, said Dr. Mike Totaro, an associate professor in the College of Sciences and chairperson of the Science Day Committee.
The idea is to give these young people an opportunity to glimpse what life as a science major at UL Lafayette is like, he said.
Faculty and staff members also will provide information about 泫圖弝け programs, admissions, housing, financial aid, and scholarships.
Industry representatives will be on hand to provide information about science-related fields and careers.
About 350 high school 泫圖弝けs have registered to attend so far.
