Two current exhibits at Dupré Library at UL Lafayette focus on Commencement Exercises and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ hurricanes. A variety of materials from the library's Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Room and Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Archives are featured in the exhibits.
Display cases in the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Room contain Commencement documents and photographs representing 11 decades of university history. Two items of particular interest are the programs from the first Closing Exercises in 1902 and the first Commencement Exercises in 1903.
First floor display cases focus on hurricane preparedness, hurricane recovery, and hurricanes that have affected Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ. Major hurricanes of the past are documented with newspaper clippings, books, pamphlets, government documents, and photographs.
The exhibits were arranged by Dr. Bruce Turner, Head of Special Collections; Jean Kiesel, Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Room Librarian; and Beate Kukainis, Head of Technical Services.
