English (M.A.)

The M.A. in English at UL Lafayette addresses the professional needs of a variety of Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs: those who plan to continue in a Ph.D. program, those who want to teach at the high school or college levels, and those who wish to acquire professional training in writing or research. All doctorates in English have a foundation in British and American language and literature, thus Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs receive a broad education in the discipline that prepares them for teaching, further research, and a diverse range of careers. Both thesis and non-thesis options are available.

Community Sharing

As one of the English Department’s longest-standing traditions, the features weekly readings of original poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, drama, and experimental works from UL Lafayette graduate Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs and faculty.

The Studio

serves as a 21st-century lab and small-group workspace for UL Lafayette Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs in the English Department to learn, create, prosper, and transition from Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ to professional. Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵs can work on and complete solo or collaborative projects for clients, including local non-profits and UL Lafayette programs, with the guidance of a faculty mentor.
