Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ

Dr. Chee Hyeon Choi has presented internationally and nationally on collegiate group piano teaching and incorporating technology in piano teaching. She was featured at the College Music Society/Association of Technology for Music Instruction national conferences (CA, KY, NY & FL), Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) national conferences (IL & NV), Kimhae International Music Symposium (Korea), National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, Korea Pedagogy Conference, Improvisation Symposium (OH), MTNA Group Piano Symposium (OH), MTNA Collegiate Symposium (TX, IN), Central Michigan Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ, and the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Wisconsin-Platteville. She has served as a faculty member for the Illinois Music Summer Youth Music piano camp since 2007. She also taught at the Millikin Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ piano camp and was the founder & director of the Bradley Summer Piano Camp. She served as the VP-Conferences of the Illinois State Music Teachers Association and was the President-Elect of ISMTA prior to joining the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Music Teachers Association in 2023.

Dr. Choi performed solos and ensembles at various venues including the Composers In Asia Symposium (FL), Pablo Center at the Confluence (WI), the Central Florida Composers' Forum (FL), Music by Women International Festival (Columbus, MS), and at the Carnegie Weil Recital Hall (NY). She also has performed as the principal keyboardist with Heartland Festival Orchestra and Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra. Originally from South Korea, Dr. Choi holds a Master’s degree in piano pedagogy and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano and Piano Literature from the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to her appointment at UL Lafayette, Choi oversaw the keyboard area as an Assistant Professor in Residence at Bradley Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ (IL) and was an adjunct faculty member at Millikin Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ. She served as the Piano Laboratory Coordinator at the Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She was presented the Award of Excellence by the Bradley Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Family Association in 2023. She was the recipient of the 2020 Illinois State Music Teachers Association Teacher of the Year award.
